Two people were transported to the hospital after a three-vehicle crash involving a police squad caused by an intoxicated driver in Buffalo Grove.

The incident happened around 2:15 p.m. Sunday at Lake Cook Road and Arlington Heights Road in Buffalo Grove.

The Buffalo Grove Fire Department was dispatched and arrived to find a three-vehicle crash with minor damage south of the intersection in the northbound lanes.

One of the vehicles was a Buffalo Grove police squad car. Two ambulances were called to the scene.

Buffalo Grove Communications and Engagement Director Molly Gillespie said the officer was stopped at the red light when they were rear-ended.

Buffalo Grove Deputy Police Chief Brian Spolar said two people were transported to the hospital by ambulance.

The driver who caused the crash and the driver of the other car involved were the ones transported.

Their injuries were minor and not life-threatening, Spolar said. The officer involved was uninjured.

The driver who caused the crash was ultimately arrested for driving under the influence and driving with a revoked license, Gillespie said.
