CARROLL COUNTY, Iowa (KTIV) - A former teacher accused of sexually abusing and committing lascivious acts with minors has pleaded guilty to her charges.

Court documents show 24-year-old Cassidy Kraus pleaded guilty to the following: one count of third-degree sexual abuse, two counts of lascivious acts with a child and three counts of dissemination and exhibition of obscene materials to minors.

According to court documents, Kraus pleaded guilty to the charges on Jan. 29 and she is expected back in court on March 11 for her sentencing. The sexual abuse count and the two counts of lascivious acts with a child each carry a possible 10-year prison sentence under Iowa law. The three counts of dissemination and exhibition of obscene materials each carry a maximum prison sentence of one year. In total, she could face a maximum of 33 years in prison.

Authorities say all of Kraus’s charges stem from incidents that took place in 2022 and 2023 in Carroll County, Iowa. These incidents involved three boys between the ages of 13 and 14.

Kraus, who used to work for the IKM-Manning Community School District, was accused of sending obscene material to minors using the social media platform Snapchat. She was also accused of engaging in sexual activity with the minors.

According to KCCI, the IKM-Manning school board approved Kraus’s resignation back in August 2023.
