Entergy contractors to begin trimming trees in downtown Lake Charles area Monday

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Entergy contractors will begin trimming trees near downtown Lake Charles on Monday, July 8, city officials say.

As hurricane season progresses, precautionary trimmings will help prevent power outages and, if any outages occur, make restoration quicker, according to Entergy officials.

The work will take place along the East Broad feeder, including parts of the following streets:

  • Belden Street
  • Lawrence Street
  • Pine Street
  • Mill Street
  • Division Street
  • South Division Street
  • Broad Street
  • Pujo Street
  • Kirby Street
  • First Street
  • Second Street
  • Moss Street
  • Ford Street
  • Kirkman Street
  • Reid Street
  • Bank Street
  • Louisiana Avenue
  • Enterprise Boulevard
  • Boston Street
  • South Franklin Street
  • East Washington Avenue
  • First Avenue.

Entergy officials told the city that contractors will take precautions and remove all trimmings and debris.

Entergy said it is notifying customers of these preventative trimmings via phone calls.
