JENNINGS, La. (KPLC) - The Jennings Police Department is warning the public of vehicle fraud after stopping two stolen cars within 24 hours.

Officers stopped a Dodge Charger SRT 392 and a Dodge Charger Hellcat on the interstate on June 29 and 30, according to JPD. Officers noticed signs of VIN swapping on both cars and confirmed they had been reported stolen from Harris County, Texas.

Officers recovered both stolen cars.

JPD warns used car buyers to beware of VIN swapping, which is when criminals conceal or replace a car’s Vehicle Identification Number. Officers have recovered stolen cars worth more than $1.3 million in the past two years, and many of these cases involved VIN swapping.
