CRIME STOPPERS: Man wanted for robbing dollar store; punching worker in face

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Detectives with the Baton Rouge Police Department are searching for a man accused of first-degree robbery.

Initial investigation revealed that the accused, Joseph Cooks, 51, entered a Dollar General off Plank Road and filled multiple bags with merchandise off the shelves.

Employees said they observed Cooks had a screwdriver in his pocket. Once he attempted to leave the store, an employee tried to stop him. Police say that’s when he allegedly punched the woman in the face, busting her lip.

Cooks pulled the screwdriver out of his pocket and threatened the woman.

He was seen fleeing the area in a white Chevrolet Impala.
