Calcasieu deputies searching for inmate mistakenly released on June 12
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help finding an inmate whom deputies mistakenly released earlier this month.
Xavier L. Johnwell, 31, of Lake Charles, is serving time in prison in East Carroll Parish. He returned to the Calcasieu Correctional Center for a court appearance, and deputies “inadvertently” released him on June 12, CPSO spokesperson Kayla Vincent said.
Deputies immediately began investigating and have been actively pursuing several leads to locate him, Vincent said.
Anyone with information about Johnwell’s whereabouts is asked to call CPSO at 337-491-3605.
Johnwell was serving time for charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and illegal carrying of weapons, second offense, Vincent said.
