Do you know a kid obsessed with Roblox?

Roblox is adding paid billboard ads within the game, making it the largest playground for product pushing. Do you think kids have selective vision when their game is covered in ads?

The new Komando Reddit page: Find it here. I’m not sure who set it up, but it’s a nice spot to share tech intel, helpful info you read in my newsletter and anything else you want to share. I’d like each of you to make one post in this new subreddit today. Before you say, “I don’t do Reddit, Kim,” just try it. Let’s make it huge together!

Social media is overrun with pics and videos of celebs: These product endorsements are mostly AI-generated scams. Recently impersonated? Jennifer Lopez pushing skincare, Tom Hanks promoting a dental plan and MrBeast hawking iPhones. Don’t fall for it. Look for reviews, don’t buy directly from social media, and stick to well-known brands.

Trivia

Author and Austinite Nick Gray had the crazy idea to combine a blind date with a vacation — his treat. He went viral when he posted his proposal on X, and over 400 women applied. Where did he take the lucky lady: A.) Rome, B.) Tokyo, C.) Las Vegas or D.) Sydney?

$55,000 for an Insta

For a foodie account with 359,000 followers. You can find the “deal” on resale site Social Tradia. Wild guess: Most of the followers are bots, and the rest are gonna smash that “unfollow” button once they catch wind of a bait and switch. Pass.

Tech how-to: Get YouTube notifications

This is a smart way to always know when your favorite creators (ahem, me!) have a new video live.

Kitboga: Behind the scenes of his scambaiter chronicles

MrBeast's backstory: Rise to No. 1 on YouTube

MrBeast surpassed the top YouTube channel #tseries, then broke a world record for most subscribers in one day. How did this enormous creator get where he is? We did the digging.

New app limits kids bathroom breaks

Are your kids ready for this to become the norm?

The average American spends 95 minutes a day on TikTok: And that number will be going up, as TikTok is fixin’ to (Barry taught me that Southern term for when he’s “fixin’ to get ready.”) let folks share 60-minute videos. Did you know about 170 million people in the U.S. alone use TikTok every single day? Wow, what a waste.

Tag, you’re it: Watch out for tagged posts from random people on Facebook. You can’t stop the tags completely (thanks, FB), but you can turn on “tag review.” That lets you review tags before they’re posted to your feed. Go to your Profile > Settings & privacy > Settings > Privacy > Profile and Tagging > Review tags. Hope you like Whac‑A‑Mole.

Stranger danger: Thousands of new moms in Facebook support groups got duped by “Cathy Marie Chan,” a so-called lactation consultant. They sent her nude breastfeeding photos and videos for “assessments,” and then “Chan” deleted her accounts and disappeared. Those pics and vids are probably for sale online somewhere.

A new  phishing email making the rounds says you’ve violated FB’s terms of service or “Community Standards.” It’ll ask you to click a link to “appeal” within 24 hours or have your account deleted. Don’t fall for it; they’re after your login details. Two tips to spot the fakes: Look for typos and emails where the sender’s email address doesn’t end in facebookmail.com.

Social media’s “perfect” filters are pushing Gen Zers to the Botox bandwagon. A whopping 75% of plastic surgeons say more under-30s are craving forehead smoothers and plumped lips, all to nail that perfect selfie.

50% of Americans support the TikTok ban

And 46% think it’s a First Amendment violation. Yes, I support the ban. TikTok’s Communist China-based parent company has nine months to change hands or its time is up in the U.S. Tick-tock!

TikTok (Taylor’s Version): Taylor Swift’s songs are coming back to TikTok thanks to a new licensing deal with Universal Music Group. They’ve ironed out the royalties and AI concerns for an undisclosed (probably astronomical) price. No more bad blood here.

Walk down memory lane: On Facebook on the web, head to a friend’s profile, click the three dots on the right, then select See friendship. Here, you’ll see all the photos you’re in together and all the messages you’ve exchanged. Neat.

Move over, New York Times: LinkedIn added puzzle games to its app and desktop site. You can pick from three options: Pinpoint (word association), Crossclimb (trivia and wordplay) and Queens (sudoku without the numbers). Give ‘em a whirl — they’re free.

30% of kids 5 to 7 are using TikTok

This means 30% of parents of kids ages 5 to 7 need to become better acquainted with being an honest-to-goodness parent.
