“Our Texas delegation is the third largest in the country, so this was a really big, exciting meeting, and it gave us good direction,” said Nancy Nichols of Smith County, a delegate to the convention.
The two 6-year-olds served lemonade and cookies to get as much money as possible to help their classmates.
The program is for kids ages 6-12 and will end on August 2nd.
“We’ve had a cosmetology program here for quite some time, since 2015,” said Tyler ISD Executive Director of College and Career Kristen Walls. “The difference is we are giving our students the opportunity to earn dual credit for that.”
“I was not looking forward particularly to the convention because I remember 1968, and the feeling that the country a week ago had some similarities. The discord, the lack of congeniality across the country,” said delegate and Smith County resident Nancy Nichols. “Things changed yesterday; the whole feeling changed. There’s an excitement and I don’t feel weary about going.”
