East Texas
Cody Gottschalk

Cody Gottschalk is a weekend meteorologist and resident storm chaser for KLTV and KTRE. During tornado season you’ll see Cody chasing severe weather in our First Alert Storm Tracker vehicle, featuring Doppler radar and all the weather tools needed to keep East Texas safe and informed.

Cody is a native Texan, moving from Mesquite to Grand Saline in 2000. There, his love for science and music would blossom into lifetime passions. During November of 2011, Cody started his news career at KLTV as a part-time camera op. Slowly learning the ins and outs of the production department, Cody eventually became a newscast director and even dabbled in some small management duties before realizing his true calling was on the weather wall. While working at the station full time, Cody would attend Mississippi State University online and graduate as a Broadcast Meteorologist in August of 2016.

Cody has tracked numerous tornadoes and has seen two in person, along with witnessing a funnel cloud track right over his house. During his honeymoon, Hurricane Hermine tracked through Florida, leaving Cody and his wife stuck in their hotel. Normally that would ruin a good part of a honeymoon but he'll tell you he's just a weather magnet with a big smile on his face.

Cody is married to his wife, Brianna, and together they have two daughters, Sera and Ava. If Cody isn't at the station or chasing severe weather, he's probably at home playing games or watching movies with his girls.
