National Weather Service confirms EF-2 tornado in Jasper on Monday

JASPER, Texas (KTRE) - Weather experts confirmed that a tornado made its way through Jasper during Monday’s storms.

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles reported that an EF-2 tornado touched down at 11:01 a.m., had peak winds of 115 miles per hour, with a path 400 yards wide and 8.64 miles long. The tornado dissipated 15 minutes later.

The NWS report said it first touched down somewhere in the Little Walnut Run Valley and moved to the northwest, eventually lifting somewhere in the Indian Creek Valley. Numerous power poles and trees were snapped or uprooted, while numerous homes and outbuildings were heavily damaged, the report said. Only one injury related to the tornado was reported.
