Athens’ Aguilera has huge rodeo week

SAINT PAUL, Oreg. (KLTV) - Athens native Lightning Aguilera brought home over $18,000 over three rodeos this past week.

The 21st ranked team roper and his partner Lane Mitchell finished in fifth place in the second round with a time of 4.7 seconds to earn $1,737. At the St. Paul Rodeo in St. Paul, Oregon, Aguilera and Mitchell took home the top spot in average with 10.0 seconds on two head to earn $6,704 each. In Washington at the Basin City Freedom Rodeo, Aguilera and Mitchell finished in fourth with a time of 4.5 seconds to take home $3,257. Aguilera earned a total of $18,013 across three rodeos.

Athens’ Jeff Askey brought home just over $6,000 last week. At the Cody Stampede in Cody, Wyoming, Askey placed sixth on a bull named Dark Knight for $1,812. At the Black Hills Roundup in South Dakota, the 36th ranked bull rider finished in seventh place on a bull named Picasso for $1,154. In Montana, Askey finished in second place on a bull named Cb for $3,176.

Mount Pleasant native Kincade Henry took first place in round one at the Greeley Stampede in Greeley, Colorado. Henry finished with an average of 26.6 seconds on three head to earn himself $6,603. In Wyoming, Henry finished in second place in round one with a run of 7.9 seconds to earn $7,576. At the Home of Champions Rodeo in Montana, Henry placed 11th in round one with a run of 9.9 seconds to earn $871, for a total of $15,050.

Hallsville’s Justin Shaffer brought home $2,846 for his second place finish at the Home of Champions Rodeo.

Alto native Logan Cook finished fifth on two head to win $876 at the Greeley Stampede. The 16th ranked saddle bronc rider scored an 83.5 on a horse named Bad Idea in the finals, which was good enough for sixth place and $250.

Carthage bull rider Dalton Walling finished tied for first at the Home of Champions Rodeo. He finished with an 84 on Big Rafter Rodeo’s New Orlean’s Nig to earn $4,357.

Marshall’s Will Woodfin and his partner Riley Kittle finished tied for fifth at the Greely Stampede with a time of 4.7 seconds in round two to bring home $1,737 each. Woodfin and Kittle competed at the Cody Stampede and finished tied for second with a time of 4.4 seconds to earn $5,377 a piece. At the Home of the Champions Rodeo, Woodfin and Kittle finished tied for seventh with a time of 4.5 seconds to earn $1,692 each. Woodfin’s total was $8,806.

Jacksonville native Jayse Tettenhorst and partner Ty Arnold finished in fifth place at the Belton CofC 4th of July Celebration & PRCA Rodeo. The fifth place finish brought home $334.

Carthage’s Tilden Hooper finished in 4th place at the Livingston Roundup Rodeo in Livingston, Montana. Hooper scored an 82.5 on a horse named Smokin’ Hot to earn himself $1,956. Hooper also rode at the Mandan Rodeo Days in Mandan, North Dakota. Hooper placed eighth on a horse named Gun Powder with an 84 for $370.

Jasper native Braden Richardson secured an eighth place finish at the Livingston Roundup Rodeo. He scored an 82.5 on a bull named High Heat to earn himself $632. At the Eugene Pro Rodeo, Richardson finished in sixth place with a score of 69 on a bull named Gun Powder for $370.

Whitehouse’s Hayden Ford finished in 13th at the Cody Stampede for $525. In Montana, Ford finished in seventh place in round one with a time of 9.3 seconds to earn $1,743. At the 89th Annual Independence Day Rodeo in Utah, Ford finished in sixth place in round one with a time of 8.3 seconds for $2,928. Ford brought home a first place finish at Rooftop Rodeo in Estes Park, Colorado. Ford had a time of 8.4 seconds to win him $1,675.

Jacksonville native Kaden Profili and partner Brenten Hall finished in first place at the Black Hills Roundup Rodeo in Belle Fourche, South Dakota. Profili and Hall finished with a time of 4.5 seconds to bring home $3,795 each. At the World’s Oldest Rodeo in Prescott, Arizona, Profili and Hall finished in third place in average for $3,493. At the Eugene Pro Rodeo, the duo finished in seventh place in round one with a time of 4.7 seconds to bring home $1,496. At the 89th Annual Independence Day Rodeo in Utah, Profili and Hall finished in seventh in round one with a time of 4.5 seconds to earn $2,566.
