Palestine police seek hit-and-run suspect after pregnant pedestrian loses child

PALESTINE, Texas (KLTV) - The Palestine Police Department is searching for a hit-and-run suspect after a pedestrian was seriously injured Wednesday.

According to the release from the department, a call came in around 9:24 p.m. Wednesday regarding a woman who was hit by a white or silver passenger car in the 1500 block of East Palestine Avenue.

The woman was crossing the street with a group when she was hit, the release said, and the driver continued east onto Highway 79. The victim, who was pregnant, the release said, was flown to a Tyler hospital where she remains in serious condition. The release said she lost her child as a result of her injuries.

Investigators have been searching for the suspect since the incident, looking for video and following up on leads, they said. They asked residents to be on the lookout for a white or silver car with damage to the front end and possibly a single headlight.
