OAKLAND, Calif. (KTRE) - Former Central Heights Blue Devil Grayson Rodriguez picked up his 11th win of the season on Sunday as the Orioles beat the Athletics 6-3.

The righthander began the game by getting JJ Bleday to fly out to left field for the first out of the inning. The next batter, Miguel Andujar, lined out to center for the second out. Rodriguez got Brent Rooker to strike out swinging for the third out and complete the 1-2-3 inning.

The Orioles offense racked up four runs in the top of the first inning to give Rodriguez plenty of insurance.

In the second inning, Tyler Soderstrom singled to right field for the A’s first baserunner of the afternoon. Rodriguez bounced back in a strong way. He got Shea Langeliers and Zack Gelof to strike out swinging for two quick outs. Lawrence Butler also struck out on a foul tip for the final out of the inning and stranded the runner at first base.

In the bottom of the third inning, Rodriguez forced Brett Harris to line out to right field for the first out of the inning. Max Schuemann came up next and was called out on strikes. Bleday grounded out to second base and Rodriguez completes another 1-2-3 inning to maintain the Orioles 5-0 lead.

In the fourth inning, Andujar grounded out to short for the first out. Rooker singled on a line drive to right to give the A’s a one-out baserunner. Soderstrom flew out to center for out number two, and Langeliers went down on strikes to keep a goose egg in the run column for the Athletics.

In the fifth, Gelof led off the inning with a line drive single to right field. Rodriguez got Butler to strike out swinging, Harris to pop out to short, and Schuemann to line out to center and keep the A’s off the scoreboard.

In the sixth inning, Rodriguez got into some hot water. He walked Bleday to lead off the inning. Andujar came up next and flew out to right for the first out. The next batter, Rooker, was hit by a pitch to put two on for the A’s with just one out. Soderstrom doubled to left to bring in Bleday and give the Athletics their first run of the game. Langeliers hit a sacrifice fly to left to bring in Rooker and make the score 5-2 in favor of the Orioles. Rodriguez got Gelof to strike out to end the inning.

Rodriguez came in to start the seventh inning. Back-to-back singles by Butler and Harris put two on for the A’s and spelled the end of the road for Rodriguez. Jacob Webb came in to replace Rodriguez and gave up one run that was charged to Rodriguez.

Rodriguez went six innings, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out eight.

The Orioles are 57-33 on the season and lead the AL East division.
