1 dead following 2-vehicle crash in Smith County

SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - A two-vehicle crash near the Smith County line left one person dead.
According to Texas DPS Sgt. Adam Albritton, the crash occurred near the intersection of State Highway 64 and Farm to Market Road 15 just after 1 p.m. Albritton said a white SUV traveling toward Turnertown and a black SUV traveling toward Tyler collided after the white vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane for an unknown reason.
The driver of the white SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. Two of the black SUV’s occupants were transported to UT Health hospital in Tyler but Albritton said they did not sustain major injuries.
The area where the crash occurred is closed but expected to reopen around 4:45 p.m.
