TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Hundreds of East Texans turned out to see new and old planes of war on Saturday at the Tyler Historic Aviation Memorial Museum.

“It’s great to show the kids airplanes, get them enthusiastic about aviation and talk about what their great-grandfathers did for the freedoms we have today,” said Mary Jenkins with the Commemorative Air Force.

Jenkins was there with the organization’s World War Two B-25 bomber. Also taking the stage was an F-35 from the Air Force’s F35 Demo Team.

“This airplane is capable of 1.6 Mach, or 1.6 times the speed of sound...It’s primarily used for stealth missions to go in and strike targets and get out without being seen,” said USAF Airman First Class Matthew Dooley.

Visitors were able to book rides on several of the planes in advance.
