CARSON COUNTY, Texas (KFDA) - Texas DPS officials say a traffic stop Thursday in Carson County found more than 10 pounds of suspected cocaine.

Officials say on July 4 around 5:40 p.m., a DPS trooper stopped a 2024 Ford Edge driving east on I-40 near Groom for a traffic violation.

During the stop, officials say the trooper found five tape-wrapped bricks of cocaine concealed inside the trunk. DPS special agents assisted with the investigation.

The driver, 58-year-old Patris Mundy, and passenger, 44-year-old Danelle Hopkins, were arrested and booked into the Carson County Jail for felony possession of a controlled substance.

Both Mundy and Hopkins are from Indianapolis, Indiana.

DPS officials say the drugs were reportedly being taken from Phoenix, Arizona, to an unknown location in Indiana.
