LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The city of Laredo is preparing for possible weather impacts by organizing a sandbag distribution event on Saturday, July 6. From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., residents can pick up sandbags at the Joe A. Guerra Laredo Public Library parking lot.

Noraida Negron, spokesperson for the City of Laredo, highlighted the precautionary efforts due to uncertain weather conditions related to Hurricane Beryl. “There’s going to be a lot of people. There’s a lot of demand. For those who cannot, including the elderly, our Public Works Department will assist them,” Negron said.

Each family can receive up to five sandbags on-site. Residents are encouraged to bring their own shovels to help with the process. City officials are monitoring Hurricane Beryl’s progress closely to ensure preparedness and safety measures are in place.
