DUNEDIN, Fla. (KLTV) - Former Kilgore Bulldog Chase Hampton made his first appearance of the season on Monday in a rehab assignment in Florida.

The 22-year old had been sidelined all season with a UCL sprain.

The New York Yankees sent Hampton on a rehab assignment with their rookie ball affiliate, the FCL Yankees.

Hampton started Monday’s game. He got Roque Salinas to line out to right field for the first out. Brennan Orf walked in the next at-bat, before Hampton got Enmanuel Bonilla to line out to center field for the second out of the inning. Hampton ended the frame by getting Yhoangel Aponte looking on strikes.

In the second inning, Hampton struck out Daniel Perez to begin the inning. Maykel Minoso doubled in the next at-bat, followed by a wild pitch from Hampton. Kendry Chirinos walked before Hampton was pulled from the game in the second inning.

The righthander threw 30 pitches, with 19 of them being strikes.

It’s unclear right now when or where Hampton’s next appearance will be, as the Yankees are monitoring his progress.
