TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Trista is the kind of teenager that will have you smiling without you even realizing it. Her confidence and easy-going nature make her one of a kind.

Among the many things that make life exciting for her include things like...

“Shopping. Yeah, totally. I love shopping”

At 16 years old, her main goal is to live in the now. She says she aims to make memories that will allow her to look back at her teenage years without regrets. She’s open to exploration and is happy to take part in any activity, as long as she gets to spend time with those she loves.

“Hike, swim. Just go outdoors do stuff, you know, with family if I had one.”

She takes pride in her ability to make others laugh and feel seen. She is true to herself and is unapologetically honest.

“Vampire movies. I love that stuff. I’m sorry… and like, God movies.”

As she prepares to enter her junior year of high school, she is setting her sights on the future, with an interest in becoming an ultrasound tech.

“I thought that would be easy and not have to go to medical school six years for it.”

But apart from her career, she dreams of a future where she can have a family to call her own.

“When people say family, I envision like us on a beach, running through the water and us laughing and taking pictures and having memories.”

It’s a vision she’s played in her head many times. That vision including a pet, too.

“Like a little chihuahua running while we run down the beach.”

She says it’s her faith that’s kept that dream alive all these years.

“I mean, just God’s plan. You know, it’s... He knows what’s coming. He has... He has a purpose for you.”

Taken away from her mother at the age of four, she’s left the door wide open for a family to come and love her the way she knows she deserves.

“The older you are, the harder it is for you to find family”

She hopes another family can see the good in opening their heart to a 16-year-old girl like her.

“The most you would have to worry about is like, curfew. Curfew, and like your grades.”

And in return, she promises to love unconditionally.
