(Gray News) – Some chocolate chip muffins sold in the bakeshop of Aldi are being recalled because they could contain undeclared walnuts.

More than 11,830 cases of the 4-count muffins were distributed nationwide, according to a news release issued by the Federal Drug Administration.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the muffins that were supposed to have walnuts did not have them. The walnuts were then found in the chocolate chip muffins.

An investigation revealed the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the packaging process.

According to the FDA, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this problem so far.

The recalled Aldi – Bakeshop Chocolate Chip Muffin 4 count product comes in a clear plastic clamshell with a red label.

They are marked with lot # NF1 142Y on the top and UPC on the label 4099100048278.

Anyone with these muffins can return them for a full refund.
