BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (KTRE) - Former Central Heights Blue Devil Duke Ellis reached base three times in five plate appearances on Thursday in Binghamton’s 8-0 win over Portland.

Ellis started the game in right field and batted second in the lineup.

Ellis struck out in his first at-bat, but came back up in the bottom of the third inning. Ellis reached base on a bunt single to give the Rumble Ponies a base runner, with one away. Ellis attempted to steal second base, but was thrown out.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Ellis was hit by a pitch to put two runners on base with two outs in the inning. Ellis would advance to second base, but end up being stranded there to end the inning.

Ellis recorded his second hit in the bottom of the eighth inning on a sharp line drive to right field.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies are 36-33 on the season and sit in second place in the EAS Northeast division.
