DAINGERFIELD, Texas (KLTV) - The Daingerfield Tigers 7 on 7 team is headed to the State Tournament in College Station next week.

Daingerfield high school principal Bobby Betts and senior football player Kenny Mosley joined East Texas Now to talk about the 7 on 7 season and the Tigers birth in the state tournament.

QB Chase Johnson is the straw that stirs the Tigers offense and Betts is excited to see what Johnson will do with a new offensive coordinator this season and says Johnson is already taking charge.

“Just seeing him take command of the team,” said Betts. “He’s gonna be a big player for us. Throwing and running the ball.”

The Tigers have had to replace the production of Aeryn “Bubba” Hampton, who is now at the University of Alabama, but Mr. Betts believes the offense may be even better this year.

“I think we’ll be alot better on offense than we were last year,” Betts said. “Even with losing a kid like Bubba Hampton.”

While scoring points on offense is important, you also have to stop teams defensively. Senior Kenny Mosley isn’t worried about Daingerfield’s defense.

“Daingerfield defense is always gonna be there,” said Mosley. “It don’t matter what we’re playing. 7 on 7, pads, it don’t matter. We there.”
