Sabine football prepares for 7 on 7 State Tournament
SABINE, Texas (KLTV) - The Sabine Cardinals 7 on 7 team, led by senior quarterback and Texas Tech commit Colt Sparks, are headed to the State Tournament in College Station.
During 7 on 7, coaches aren’t allowed to coach the teams. 7 on 7 teams are player led. While coaches can attend games and offer advice, they’re not allowed to actually coach the kids.
“It’s really neat to see our leadership we’ve been working on all spring really come to the forefront,” said head coach Cody Gilbert.
“It’s almost like a dad perspective when you watch your kids compete and you can’t help them.”
Colt Sparks is the quarterback for the Cardinals and is excited about the talent on the offensive side of the ball.
“We have guys all over the field making plays, it’s not just one or two people,” said Sparks.
The Sabine Cardinals will play in the division three bracket of the state 7 on 7 tournament at Veterans Park in College Station June 27-29.
