Grapeland 7 on 7 team prepares for State Tournament

GRAPELAND, Texas (KTRE) - The Grapeland Sandies 7 on 7 team will be in College Station next week for the 7 on 7 State Tournament.
Head coach Jordan Wood is unable to coach the team during 7 on 7, but loves what he is seeing on the field this summer.
“I wanna see the fight and them compete and they did that this year,” said Wood.
Grapeland is one of the smaller 2A schools in the state, and because of that, the Sandies only have eight players on the 7on7 squad.
“We get a lot of comments about it,” Wood said. “I told the guys last year, it don’t have anything to do with the coaching, our kids just compete...We don’t have guys to sub in, they know that, so they just compete and step up.”
