Fiji Water bottles recalled due to manganese, bacteria
(Gray News) - Fiji Water issued a voluntary recall of some of its bottled water, but the company said there’s no reason for people to be concerned.
The recall was originally issued in March, but the Food and Drug Administration updated its classification recently to Class III, which is “a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product is not likely to cause adverse health consequences.”
The only water bottles involved in this recall were bought in Washington state and online direct to consumers. They are being recalled due to elevated levels of manganese as well as bacteria.
The Fiji Natural Artesian Water in this recall are 500 mL bottles in a 24-pack case with a UPC Code of 6 32565 00004 3 and a bottle UPC Code of 6 32565 00001 2.

Manganese is a mineral that naturally occurs in water, but too much can be harmful to health, causing neurological effects, health officials say.
Fiji Water assured customers that there is no health risk associated with its products. The recall “affected products that were sold through only one distributor, and 99% of all those affected bottles were reclaimed, with the remainder in warehouses to be returned,” the company told media outlets.
