Some Planters nuts recalled over listeria concern

(CNN) - Two varieties of Planters nuts are facing a recall.

The Food and Drug Administration says Hormel Foods has voluntarily recalled Planters peanuts and mixed nuts due to possible contamination with the bacteria that causes listeria.

The two recalled products – four-ounce packages of honey roasted peanuts and some cans of lightly-salted mixed nuts – were sold in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

The peanuts have a “best if used by” date of April 11, 2025, and the mixed nuts have a “best if used by” date of April 5, 2026.

As of Friday, there were no reported illnesses.
