TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Recently, we have witnessed dramatic increases in student protests across some areas of the country.

Student groups have long held the ability and certainly the right to peacefully protest what they feel are injustices. The ones we have seen recently have been labeled by many as Pro-Palestinian protests related to the Israeli-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip. But so many of these protests have evolved, or devolved into something much more sinister – and that is the antisemitic themes and messages that have started emerging from these group.

It is easy to protest, and if individuals and groups are so moved, they have a right to protest in the United States. But that right is not shared globally. In fact, many countries and even some of the cultures being lifted up by the protestors don’t offer that right. To that end, it seems that many of these protestors are ill-informed, or mis-informed on what causes they are supporting.

It is reasonable to march for peace, but that message has to be pointed at all participants not just one side of a conflict. Many of the protestors are demanding the U-S end support of Israel. Israel, did not start this conflict but they certainly have a right to defend themselves and finish it. And it is in the best interest of preserving the rights we have in this country if the conflict is not brought to our borders.

Some just don’t appreciate how good we have it. The U-S is not perfect but no county on earth compares to our freedoms – freedoms that need respect.
