DENVER (Gray News) - The Denver Broncos released veteran quarterback Russell Wilson from the team on Monday.

A statement from GM George Paton and Head Coach Sean Payton was shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The team announced that Wilson will be cut after the new league year begins on March 13.

“On behalf of the Broncos, we thank Russell for his contributions and dedication to our team and community while wishing him the best as he continues his career,” the statement said.

Wilson was traded to the Broncos before the 2022 season after he spent 10 years with the Seattle Seahawks. He signed a five-year $245 million extension in September that year, according to Sports Illustrated.
