(Gray News) - The former WWE superstar known as Virgil has died.

Michael Jones died this week, according to a post on the wrestling star’s Instagram account.

“This is to confirm the sad news about our beloved Meatsauce God and Wrestling Superstar Virgil/Michael Jones has passed away,” the statement said in part.

Jones debuted in wrestling in 1985 under the moniker Soul Train Jones, before joining the WWE, then known as WWF, in 1986 and rebranding his image. He is best remembered for his run as “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase’s bodyguard, according to CBS Sports.

Jones left the WWE in 1994 and later joined the WCW in 1996, wrestling under the name Vincent.

He retired from wrestling after leaving the WCW in 2000, making occasional appearances and even returning to the WWE briefly in 2010.

“We would only ask at this time to remember as the man that he was,” the Instagram post read. “Wishing him all the unlimited pasta in heaven.”

According to CBS Sports, Jones wrestled his last match in 2020.
