Hemphill ISD hires new AD, head football coach

HEMPHILL, Texas (KTRE) - In Hemphill ISD’s school board meeting held Thursday night, one of the orders of business on the agenda was the announcement of the hiring of their new athletic director and head football coach.
The search, which began back in December, ended with the hiring of Brandon Layne who comes to Hemphill from Redwater, where he has served as head coach there since 2021.
Coach Layne is originally from Van Alstyne, Texas, where as a player in high school he helped lead the team all the way to the state championship game. Coach Layne also played baseball for the Van Alstyne Panthers making it to the regional round of the playoffs.
East Texas Sports wants to welcome coach Brandon Layne to the Hemphill Hornets.
