TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Usually East Texas is a very warm place to live, but sometimes winter decides to come on strong. Soon we’ll be seeing several days of below freezing temperatures.

To help you prepare, after you protect your pipes, plants, and people, charge your phones, and other important tasks, I have put together a collection of recipes to warm you up on the coldest of days. I hope they help you stay cozy and satisfied.

Click on any of the following links to see the recipe:

Chicken parm soup: Grab a rotisserie chicken and stir up this wonderful Italian-inspired soup.

Creamy chicken-enchilada soup: Nearly everyone enjoys a quick meal that tastes wonderful; this soup does that, for sure, with its flavorful creamy broth and tender chunks of chicken. Give it a try on a busy night.

Chicken-vegetable stew: This stew is so comforting, so perfect for a chilly day, and completely easy to make, even if you don’t consider yourself a cook. Trust me, you can do this! It’s done in a hurry, too, which we all appreciate.

Sweet potato-sausage soup: This savory soup is so full of flavor and wonderful texture that you’ll crave it all year long, not just when it’s cold outside.

Italian gnocchi and sausage soup with spinach and arugula: This flavorful soup is so delicious that it’ll be one we’ll all be making on repeat throughout the season. Happily, it’s easy to make, too!

White turkey chili: This is so good that my friends and family always ask for the recipe after they try it! I hope you love it, too. It’s especially good on rainy or cold days when you want something comforting and warm.

Stew’s chicken stew: Whether you’re craving soup or stew, this can hit both. It cooks like a soup, but keep it overnight and reheat for it to have a consistency closer to stew. Either way, this hearty, easy-to-prepare dish should hit the spot.

Savory sweet potato soup: This is a delicious, creamy soup that is not at all sweet; you’ll be surprised how just a few ingredients can transform sweet potatoes into a hearty bowl of warm goodness. And, even better, it’s good for you!

Smoked sausage-blackeyed pea soup with cornbread croutons: If you love soup (and who doesn’t during the winter?) and are looking for a recipe to get your New Year’s Day black-eyed peas in, this recipe will be perfect.

11-ingredient Christmas soup: This one features fresh greens, mild, creamy white beans, bright red tomatoes, and delicious flavor is added by using garlic, celery, and more!

Spicy bean and butternut squash soup: This is a tasty soup that will warm you up on a chilly day. It’s full of delicious vegetables that are kicked up with spices that you’ll love.

Spicy 2-bean soup: Whether you want a meal in a hurry, a meal that’s delicious and filling, or a meal that’s nutritious, this soup has got you covered! It’s even better on a cool or rainy day.

4-ingredient cheese tortellini-spinach soup: This is a throwback recipe from before we got our new kitchen set, but it’s so good I had to share it again.

I hope you find one or two you’d like to try. Enjoy and stay warm and cozy!
