LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Authorities say a York man ran from the law on Saturday — with two kids in the back seat.

About 11 p.m., a sergeant with the York County Sheriff’s Office tried to pull over an SUV for multiple traffic violations, the agency said.

But the sheriff’s office said the driver, 36-year-old Randy Kermoade, didn’t stop.

The sergeant chased him across York, until he finally came to a stop.

Deputies said they found two children in the back seat, and neither were wearing a seat belt.

One child was handed over to their parent, and the other was placed with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

Kermoade was arrested on a litany of charges: child abuse, operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, no proof of insurance, driving under suspension, willful reckless driving and possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana — just to name a few.
