York man crashed into ditch during chase with deputy, sheriff’s office says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Tuesday after a short pursuit in York County, the sheriff’s office says.

Around 2:30 a.m., a deputy was patrolling in McCool Junction when he saw a vehicle make a “traffic violation.”

The deputy tried pulling over the vehicle, but the driver — 29-year-old Skylar Wiese of York — sped off, the sheriff’s office said.

Shortly after, Wiese lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch.

Before the chase, Wiese had broken into a home and stole the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.

Wiese was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including burglary and willful reckless driving.
