Wanted woman arrested after ramming into several cruisers in Lincoln, deputy says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A wanted woman was caught Tuesday after she drove into several cruisers, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says.

Around 10 a.m., officers with the Metro Fugitive Task Force spotted Makaila Fryrear — who was wanted on a warrant — at a gas station near 44th Street and Cornhusker Highway.

Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said officers boxed her vehicle in, but Fryrear got into the driver’s seat, rammed the cruisers and took off.

Authorities chased Fryrear until she crashed into another cruiser at 56th Street and Walker Avenue, according to Houchin.

Fryrear and a passenger were taken into custody.  The passenger was lodged on suspicion of possessing meth.

Houchin said Fryrear was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.  She will be facing several charges, including second-degree assault on an officer and resisting arrest with a deadly weapon once she is released.

One of the task force officers suffered minor injuries.  Houchin said one of the cruisers had $15,000 in damage and another had $2,500 in damage.
