Voters overwhelmingly reject $90 million Waverly school bond issue

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Voters in the Waverly school district gave a thumbs-down on Tuesday to a $90 million school bond issue.

Waverly Public Schools’ proposal suffered a lopsided defeat at the ballot box, with 68% voting against it.

Superintendent Cory Worrell told Channel 8 last month that the bonds were for urgent facility needs, including more space at the middle and high school.

The money also would have been used to update the district’s heating and air conditioning systems.
