Two caught with several knives, 2 pounds of meth in York County traffic stop

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two people are facing several felony drug charges after a York County traffic stop last week, the sheriff’s office says.

Around 11:20 p.m. Thursday, a deputy pulled over a vehicle for “multiple” traffic violations on Interstate 80, just southwest of York.

The deputy suspected criminal activity, and a dog smelled drugs inside the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.

Several knives, drug paraphernalia and 2 pounds of meth were found in the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

The driver, 36-year-old Andrew Juarez, and passenger, 39-year-old Sonia Martinez, were taken into custody.

The sheriff’s office said Martinez slipped out of her handcuffs and tried getting rid of drug paraphernalia in the patrol cruiser.

Juarez also repeatedly slammed his hands against a patrol cruiser’s window, according to authorities.

Both were lodged in York County Jail on suspicion of several changes, including possession of methamphetamine.
