Man barricaded himself in north Lincoln house for hours, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Police say a man barricaded himself inside a north Lincoln home Friday night.

About 5:20 p.m., police arrived near Ninth and Manatt streets in the Belmont neighborhood on a report of an assault.

The suspect in the assault had shut himself inside the house, police said.

A neighbor said police were using a megaphone to tell the suspect to come out of the home.

A helicopter was also circling overhead, according to a Channel 8 reporter at the scene.

This went on for hours.

Just before 10 p.m., a SWAT team member told Channel 8 that the man had come out.

The Lincoln Police Department said he surrendered peacefully.

Officers were still on scene late Friday night to make sure there was no further danger.

The public is urged to avoid the area until the scene is cleared.
