Streets flood, tornado spotted in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Storms caused flash flooding in some Lincoln streets overnight.

Shortly after midnight Tuesday, a user of the NOW Local News App submitted a photo of cars partially submerged on 11th Street near F Street.

Another app user posted a video of water in a road near Southwest 30th and West A streets.

In east Lincoln, 48th Street was flooded south of Cornhusker Highway, under the railroad bridge.

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for Lancaster County, including Lincoln and surrounding areas. The warning goes until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

By midnight, 1 to 2 inches of rain had already fallen, and up to 2 inches more were expected to fall.

The storm also brought reports of a tornado.

Just before midnight, a spotter saw a tornado in Lincoln, about 4 miles southeast of Pioneers Park.

Central Lancaster County, including south Lincoln, was under a tornado warning until 12:15 a.m.
