Seward County Sheriff’s Office seizes nine pounds of heroin in traffic stop

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An Arizona man was caught in Seward County on Wednesday with more than nine pounds of heroin.

A Seward County Deputy pulled over a Toyota Corolla at 1:00 p.m. for a traffic violation on Interstate 80, just north of Pleasant Dale.

The Seward County Sheriff’s Office said the deputy became suspicious of criminal activity and asked for consent to search the car.

The driver, Fernando Isai Puerta Perez, denied consent and a K-9 was deployed, officials said.

Deputies said the dog gave a positive response and a search of the car revealed more than nine pounds of heroin.

The street value of the heroin is $515,000, according to officials.

Puerta Perez was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

He was lodged in Seward County jail.
