Rosie’s Sports Bar & Grill closes downtown Lincoln location

Rosie's Downtown Closes

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A downtown Lincoln sports bar has closed its doors, for now.

Rosie’s Sports Bar & Grill announced on Wednesday its downtown location near 10th and P Streets has shut down.

The bar posted on Facebook that it just hadn’t seen enough business outside of football season.

“Thank you all for making game days the absolute best experience,” the bar wrote on Facebook.

The closure saddened many in the community, including employees.

“Everybody has been devastated,” said Samantha Romero, a former employee. “I talked to my GM today and they’re down there packing stuff up and it’s just heartbreaking that we only got three years as a family.”

A sign at the location’s door announcing it closed also thanks Husker fans for the memories.

“The memories are unbelievable, especially from Husker home game days,” Romero said. “They were always a blast. They were crazy, they were hectic sometimes but like we always made it through.”

Rosie’s original location near 14th Street and Nebraska Parkway is still open.

The restaurant’s general manager told Channel 8 that the location could reopen sometime in the future with a different structure.
