Omaha man saved big money, stole nearly half a million dollars from Menards

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An Omaha man was sentenced on Monday after stealing more than $450,000 from Menards in a fraud scheme.

Eric Everroad, 53, got one year in prison with a three-year term of supervised release.

From December 2006 to September 2022, he was the building materials manager at the 120th Street location in Omaha.

Beginning in 2017, Everroad carried out a scheme in which he let a contractor buy items from Menards using wrongfully obtained store credits.

He created false returns to generate store credits and also allowed the contractor to use customers’ legitimate store credits to make purchases.

The contractor would then pay Everroad directly.

Everroad deposited that money directly into his personal bank account.

Over the span of five years, he received $478,674.94 from the contractor.

Everroad was confronted by loss prevention officers with Menards and admitted to his scheme.

The owners of the contracting company said they benefited from paying Everroad directly because they didn’t have to pay until after a job was finished.

Everroad was ordered to pay back all the money he stole in restitution.
