Nebraska man gets 15 years in prison on meth charge

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Geneva man will spend over a decade in prison on a meth charge, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Kurt Heckenliable, 51, was sentenced Friday to 15 years in prison for possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture containing meth.

Since Heckenliable was previously convicted on a drug charge in York County, he faced a 15-year mandatory minimum sentence, according to the attorney’s office.

Back on Sept. 22, 2021, state troopers were sent to a motorcycle crash near Mead, which is west of Omaha.

The motorcyclist, Heckenliable, was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries, the attorney’s office said.

While responding to the crash, authorities noticed suspected meth on the ground near the motorcycle.

Troopers then searched and found more meth in the motorcycle, according to the attorney’s office.

In total, authorities found about four kilograms of meth at the scene of the crash.

After Heckenliable’s prison sentence, he will serve a 10-year term of supervised release.  There is no parole in the federal system.
