Nebraska lawmakers, political leaders react to State of the Union address

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska’s Congressional delegation was critical of Pres. Joe Biden’s State of the Union address on Thursday.

Rep. Mike Flood from Nebraska was especially critical of the President’s response at the southern border.

Sen. Deb Fischer spoke about inflation and said Biden falsely assumed what Americans stand for.

“America is where families’ high grocery bills are the fault of businesses instead of inflation,” Fischer said in a statement late Thursday.

Sen. Pete Ricketts also criticized Biden’s speech. He said the address was a “viciously partisan campaign speech,” and Biden denied that his policies have failed.

Ricketts also said Biden’s largest threats to our democracy were created by his own choices.

“A catastrophe at our southern border, an appeasement-first foreign policy, and out of control costs of living,” Ricketts said in a press release late Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Nebraska Democratic Party called the speech one of the best State of the Union’s ever.

The party posted on X that Pres. Biden laid out a “vision for a more fair, more just, and more prosperous America.”
