Missing Nebraska teen found dead in Platte River

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A missing 17-year-old boy from Fremont was found dead Thursday in the Platte River.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office said authorities found Jackson Potter’s body in the river about 2 miles east of the Highway 64 bridge.

Potter went missing around 9 p.m. Sunday after wading into the Platte River, according to the sheriff’s office.

Several agencies helped look for the missing teen, including the Nebraska State Patrol and Omaha Police Department.

Authorities used the Omaha Police helicopter, multiple drones and boats during the search.

“Our sincerest condolences are with the family of Mr. Potter and we would like to thank every agency and person that assisted in this search,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release.
