Midday Interview: Homestead Days Preview

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Homestead Days in Beatrice is set to kick off this weekend.

Amber Kirkendall with the Homestead National Historical Park joined Channel 8 News at midday to highlight some of the main events.

BEATRICE, Neb. – Homestead Days 2024 is coming soon! We invite you to Homestead National Historical Park on Friday, June 21, 2024, through Sunday, June 23, 2024, to participate in this weekend full of free events, including a keynote presentation by actor Sean Astin. In addition to Astin, this year’s stage presentations will feature music and dance from the various cultures impacted by the Homestead Act. Each of the three days will have a different lineup of performers:

Friday, June 21

1 p.m. Chris Sayre, Family-friendly Musical Performer

Saturday, June 22

10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Traditional craft demonstrations and antique farming demonstrations on the prairie Noon Oklahoma Fancy Dancers, Native American Dance Troupe

1 p.m. Homestead Harmonizers, Acapella Men’s Choir

2 p.m. USAF Heartland of America Band: Offutt Brass, Brass Quintet

3 p.m. Sean Astin, Actor

Sunday, June 23

10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Traditional craft demonstrations and antique farming demonstrations on the prairie Noon Courtland Opry House Dulcimer Players, Dulcimer Music

1 p.m. KC Irish Dance Company & Heartland Highland Dancers, Scottish & Irish Dance

2 p.m. Kusi Taki, Traditional South American Music

3 p.m. Michael Murphy, Native Flute
