Man shot and killed in west Lincoln parking lot

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 25-year-old man was shot dead Friday night in west Lincoln.

The shooting happened about 10 p.m. in a parking lot at South Coddington Avenue and West A streets, police said.

The Lincoln Police Department responded to a report of gunshots and vehicles fleeing the scene.

A Lincoln man was found in the area with a gunshot wound, police said.

He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Police did not say exactly where the man was found, but several police cars were seen at South Folsom and West A streets, which is about a mile from the crime scene.

A Channel 8 reporter also saw blood on the ground there.

LPD said several people were present when the man was shot.

Officers are working to identify witnesses and a suspect. No one has been arrested.

The crime scene tape in the parking lot is close to Amigos. There is also a Russ’s Market and several other businesses nearby.

Investigators will stay at the scene to process evidence.
