Man on parole ticketed in Lincoln crash that killed unborn child

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man was ticketed Wednesday in a crash that killed an unborn baby.

Lionel Brown, 59, was cited with misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide of an unborn child.

On May 10, Brown was driving west on E Street when he hit a Kia Optima that was going south on 16th Street, police said.

A pregnant passenger in the Kia was taken to a hospital, where doctors performed an emergency delivery.

The baby was pronounced dead shortly after.

Brown was on parole at the time of the crash, according to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.

He was released in 2020 but is now back in state custody, spokeswoman Dayne Urbanovsky said.

In 1998, Brown was convicted of first-degree sexual assault, first-degree false imprisonment and first-degree assault.

Lincoln Police said the crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information should call police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
