LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The man who escaped from the Lincoln Regional Center on Tuesday morning was arrested after leading authorities on a coal train pursuit.

On Thursday morning, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office said they believed Justin Daro, 47, was at a house in Ulysses, Nebraska, 17 miles north of Seward.

Deputies said Daro left the house 10 minutes later as they tried to make contact with him, according to officials.

Officials said deputies pursued Daro’s car as he fled toward Seward County.

Daro’s car broke down near a railroad crossing just west of Tamora, south of Highway 34, according to deputies.

Deputies said Daro climbed a stationary train and began running on top of train cars that were full of coal.

The Nebraska State Patrol deployed a K-9 onto the train, but Daro jumped across the tracks to a different stationary train, according to officials.

Troopers said they shot Daro with a bean bag bullet, binging the suspect to a stop.

Officials said Daro continued to resist arrest, but he was finally taken into custody on top of the coal train.

Daro was medically cleared at the Seward Hospital and then lodged in the Lancaster County Jail.

Officials said charges are still pending.
