Lincoln Police cite nearly 200 drivers during school zone safety project

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Police Department on Friday released the results of its school zone safety project.

The project, which ran from May 8 to May 22, placed additional officers in school zones to “enhance traffic and pedestrian safety,” police said.

Officers made 175 traffic stops and issued 195 citations, including 112 speeding tickets, according to police.

During the enforcement project, officers also arrested four people wanted on warrants.

The project was funded by a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office.
