Lancaster County officials announce 27 polling place changes ahead of primary

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Several precincts in Lancaster County are getting new polling places, election officials announced Tuesday.

Lancaster County Election Commissioner Todd Wiltgen announced 27 polling place changes ahead of the May 14 primary.

“Most of the changes were made to enhance the voter’s election day experience,” Wiltgen said in a press release. “We consistently review and evaluate polling locations, and select locations based on the needs of our voters.”

Officials said the change impacts around 27,000 of the 201,000 voters in Lancaster County.  Notices of the changes were mailed to all affected voters on Monday.

Wiltgen told Channel 8 that some of the previous locations “weren’t even in the voters’ own precinct.”

“We thought it was important to get the precinct polling places closer to the voters,” he said.
